WTM 2014: The time for talking is over

This entry is going to be short and sweet. I’ve finished registering, set up my tent site, and I’m getting ready to go. I’ll now be laying low for the evening in preparation for a weekend of, well, who knows. As I expected, the WTM 2014 course is very different than it was in 2012: The course is rugged, dry, and technical. The rocks are sharp and the obstacles, many of which have never been seen before, look very tricky. There are substantially more (and worse) penalties for not completing obstacles. And the daytime will be warm and the night will be cool, so as a cold weather racer, the climate here doesn’t work in my favour. There are any number of factors that can break a racer for this one, including poor grip strength, dehydration (i.e., cramping, heat/sun stroke), jagged rocks, hills, etc. The level of competitor looks much higher this year as well. So we’ll see how this all unfolds. Enjoy the show!

My bib number is 2125.
